Westminster Veterinary Group is a leader in medical and surgical care of avian and exotic pets. We offer special expertise in the treatment of pet birds of all types and sizes. Small mammalian pets, such as rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, hedgehogs and other unique mammals make up a large part of our practice. We also have extensive experience in the treatment of lizards, turtles, snakes and other reptilian pets.
We have gone to great lengths to ensure that our hospital is fully equipped for the specialized needs of your unique pet. Our avian and exotic veterinary services include well-check appointments and preventive medicine, nutrition and husbandry counseling, radiography, video endoscopy, ultrasonography, dentistry and extensive laboratory testing for infectious and metabolic diseases. Hospitalized pets receive loving care from our highly trained staff in a warm, safe environment.
We are one of only a few hospitals in California with extensive experience in bird and exotic animal surgery. Surgery for these small and often delicate pets requires extensive experience and specialized equipment such as micro-instrumentation, magnification equipment, and electrosurgery to prevent blood loss and minimize trauma. Anesthesia times are kept to a minimum and patients continuously monitored with state-of-the-art electronic equipment and surgical nursing care.
