My Pet

I had always been one of those kids that bugs her parents for a dog, but never gets one. Well, when I made the decision to move out of my family's house, I also decided that it was the right time to start looking for a puppy to call my own.

I began spending my lunch breaks at work flipping through dozens of pages of adoptable pets at Petfinder.com. I always knew I needed a silly looking dog, a face that only a mother could love! I found that face when I stumbled upon a picture of a black and white fuzz ball with two bright eyes popping through! I emailed the puppy's foster mom and agreed to meet her in Venice at a mobile pet adoption. As soon as she handed that silly little dog to me I knew I was never letting go. I was going to spoil her!

That pup I renamed Malibu and she has never stopped being a crazy little character since! She's fiesty and furocious, or at least she wants everyone to think that about her. She loves her belly rubs and absolutely every toy she can get her paws on! She is incredibly smart and learned tricks such as sit, down, stay, roll-over, bark, growl, fetch, play dead, shake, high-five, and more with ease! She really is the best dog I could have imagined!

On Valentine's Day of 2008, Malibu began vomitting and having terrible diarrhea. After many tests and thankfully an ultrasound, it was discovered that she had many cysts on her kidneys. At only 6 months old, she was facing irreparable kidney damage. She is now on a special diet and medication to help manage her kidney disease, but she really does not let any sickness slow her down! She's still a little speed demon that bounces off the walls!
